Ryusen Fukakuryu Kai 8.25" Gyuto

I have returned plenty of knives that didn't feel good in my hand, but I have never returned a knife because of its looks, nor have I ever been so deceived by a website photo. (no fault of C&M) First, a couple of important things to know. This knife has a unique steel that you just can't find with other knives. It's also light, maneuverable and as C&M has said, Ryusen makes some of the most comfortable handles in the business. When I studied the photo of this knife, it looked like it had a unique and cool looking blade design and the handle looked like it was made of some type of rare and beautiful exotic wood. So, I ordered the knife. Upon arrival I could tell the steel was razor sharp. The handle was very comfortable and yes, the blade looked supper cool. However, and unfortunately when I actually seen this knife in person, the handle was more of a bland brownish tan instead of a pretty deep blond wood color. Worst of all, the handle looked so plastic and artificial that I just wasn't able to overlook this glaring problem, Maybe they used to much resin, I can't really say. I just know that this knife is incredibly expensive and as bad as I wanted it for the comfortable grip, the cool blade design and the unique steel, I just couldn't bring myself to pay that kind of money for what basically looks like a CHEAP PLASTIC TOY.
