After using so many different pepper mills over the years, I decided I wanted to try one with light and able to use with one hand. At Christmas, I received another, less expensive brand as a gift - by January 5, the light was already inoperative and by May, the electric pepper mill was non-functioning entirely. So - searching on Cutlery and More, I saw this Peugeot pepper mill and ordered it and have been extremely happy with it - easy to fill, light works, the sensitive touch works perfectly and there are many size of grinds to easily choose from. Very convenient to have one hand free to stir as grinding! Love it.

I bought this after the motor in the earlier model burnt out. I loved the earlier model and I love the new mode, Elis Sense, equally. There is more plastic on the new model. We always seem to move more toward plastic and farther away from stainless. This is sad. Please tell me how it is improved to be embedded in plastic or not making more in stainless. I always think it is cost driven. Maybe injection mold driven. I don't know. Anyway, I will use it with the same pleasure as I do the old style salt mill, together. I love the light so that I can dine at dimmed romantic lighting and still see how much salt and pepper I am using. The mill works beautifully and they are ergonometrically sound. My only concern is going to be the motor and that the product will last through the warranty, and then the motor will go. I remember when products used to last a life time. Obsolescence was not designed in. Is this what we need to keep manufacturers alive and well? That products do have a shelf life like a peach? For me is like this: I love good products and good products are well designed and last a lifetime. That is what I seek out. Good DESIGN = ART + FUNCTION + POETRY. Let's see how long it lasts. I hope until I die. Why might I be unrealistic? This should be the goal, in my humble opinion. The cost of the product is enough that it should last that long. My fingers are crossed, at least until I need pepper or salt. :)

I wanted a mill that would work with blends containing the softer red and green
peppercorns. I have this one set on the finest grind & it does an excellent job.
The only drawback for me is that the light is so bright that it's nearly blinding when
pulsed. Pulsing is the recommended method for dispensing pepper, but it has
the effect of a strobe light on my ancient eyeballs.
