Henckels Forged Accent 20 Piece Self-Sharpening Knife Block Set, Black Handles

First, I agree with many reviewers who were surprised at the size of the block itself, but I have ample counter space so it’s not an issue for me and the block is a beautiful piece of wood and actually looks great with my cabinets’ finish. The kioves themselves are almost dangerously sharp. I ordered a stamped set first and was disappointed in the lack of heft and sturdy feel. Not so these forged beauties. The balance and heft are remarkable for a set at this price point. The variety of knives cover most of my needs ( I have a nice cleaver), and I love the prep knife- so versatile. Using them is a joy, whether deboning, trimming a pineapple or making salads. I hand wash, immediately dry and return them to the block- honestly, for protection of the knives and protection of whom ever might absentmindedly reach into the drying rack and cut off a finger. I can only say that I wish I had the money to buy these (and my AlClad5 ply cook set, also top notch) 30 years ago because I would still have them and would have enjoyed using them all this time. I highly recommend this functional and attractive set to anyone who enjoys cooking on a little higher level and wants commensurate performance from their kitchen tools.

Great Knifes 3rd set

I had a hard time deciding against these and the Wustof Gourmet knives, so I ordered a set of each. Both were the same price. These Henckels are all forged, not stamped..even the steak knives! The Henckels feel super sturdy in the hand, and also look beautiful on my countertop. The stamped versions of the Wustof Gourmet felt flimsy and cheap, even though their cost was the same. I am keeping these Henckels and sending the stamped Wustofs back! The lifetime warranty is definitely a bonus
