Asahi Black Professional Rubber Cutting Board, 17.7 x 9.8" (13mm)

My wife and I each have an edge-grain walnut cutting board that we bought years ago at a local art show, along with two blocks of our favorite knives. We aren't professionals, nor do we have a fancy kitchen; we just enjoy doing alot of our own home food prep. I'm in charge of fish, poultry and our occasional use of beef. I had used a plastic board for that purpose, but recently, we decided that the micro-plastics must go.

Cutlery and More is our go to for kitchenware, so that was my first stop. I researhed a couple of their top-end brands, which included watching lots of YouTube videos. If you can get past the price of the Asahi boards, THEY ARE WORTH IT. People rave over these boards and now I understand why. They feel like you're using a wood board, but even better because they hold the product without any slippage. For example, just yesterday, I cut some fresh chicken breasts into small pieces for soup and the feel was incredible. Later I sliced a filet of salmon into pieces and the same thing; it held the product. And it's not just fish, poultry or meat; I've been impressed with onion and pepper chopping, etc. LASTLY, THEY CLEAN UP WONDERFULLY. So easy and it feels like you have a clean and sanitary board, plus no hard plastic.

Ditch the plastic and give the Asahi board a try. Do note that not only do they offer different sizes, but also different thicknesses. We bought the 13mm; really didn't realize that it was thinner, but it was the overall size…

This is the best cutting board I’ve used - and I’ve use many, including rubber, wooden end cuts, etc. It has just the right amount of weight, friction to hold food in place, and softness/hardness for knife edge retention. Excellent Japanese quality. I highly recommend it.

I’ve used smaller Asahi boards before, and this larger Professional board has been a great addition. The surface is gentle on knife edges while still providing good grip during prep. The extra workspace is also a big improvement over the smaller sizes. You can’t go wrong with these cutting boards!

Unfortunately, a 1/8 in too wide so doesn't fit in my storage cabinets...I had to return it but will replace it with another as soon as the right size is available again.
