Because of its semi- soft wood this Hinoki cutting board is perfect for Japanese or any type of knife steel really. This particular size gives me enough room to cut a lot of prep move it around and not have to stop and put my prepped items on a separate bowl or plate to make more room. That being said it's not bulky and doesn't take up a whole lot of space when it's time to put it away. However, maybe the best thing about this product is the great, refreshing natural Hinoki wood smell. which in my opinion is in and of itself worth the price. You're simply just going to have to buy this board to experience that, but I'm 99% you won't regret it in any way.

Good size, lightweight and easy to clean, great for my knives. I oiled it before using it. The Hinoki smells absolutely wonderful, still quite pungent after a month.

Great piece of wood. It smells very nice even after you wash it. Softer wood for my knives that has behaved very well.
