Shun 8 Slot Beechwood Knife Block

I wanted a different wood block for the Shun knife set that I bought but most of the Shun blocks with enough slots were Bamboo. I wanted a wood that was more "traditional" and this Beechwood block fit perfectly. It accommodates all of the knives - including the 9 1/2" Carving knife. The quality is flawless and the finish is perfect. I couldn't be more pleased.

We wanted a knife block with a smaller foot print and fewer slots than the standard ones provide and this fit the bill. The front face is angled so it makes it easier to place your knives in the slots. Beautiful looking in its simplicity.

These knives are awesome and so is the block

I bought Shun knife block after reading it is supposed to be a space saver. While it is fairly narrow, it is huge and heavy. Had I read the dimensions more closely I never would have purchased it. Somehow you just don't get a sense of it's true size from the photo on the website. It is well made.
