Description

This bunka knife is made by Takeshi Saji in Echizen, Japan. It is crafted of SG2 powder stainless steel with a high hardness rating of 63 HRC. This steel is highly corrosion resistant and with its high hardness and micro carbide structure, can take and retain a very fine edge. The damascus finish is beautifully enhanced by a deep etching process ("kurozome") and the handle is crafted of premium materials. This knife comes in a wooden gift box for an impressive presentation.

    Wicked knife

    I own several high end mass produced cutlery knives in SG2 (powdered stainless super steels are the way to go if you haven’t figured that out yet). But I wanted a small batch hand made Japanese knife. I chose the Bunka because the blade is relatively flat like a Santoku, except it has a much more useful tip. The metal spacer between the two different types of wood on the handle was a bit sharp and required some light sanding with 1000 grit sandpaper (I’m a perfect), and the Damascus finish on the blade is more matte than polished, but overall I am really happy with this knife. The Damascus pattern is simply stunning. Most of my other knives have felt neglected since I received this one.
