Messermeister 6.5" Saddle Magnetic Leather Edge-Guard

The 4 inch leather knife guard is exactly 4 inches long. Great you think, but many "4 inch" paring knives’ blades are also exactly 4 inches long (or some slightly longer), and if they are not placed carefully in the guard, either the heel or tip of the blade will be slightly exposed. Given the abundance of "4 inch" blades looking for a home, it would be better if the guard was a quarter inch longer. The guard itself is excellent - well made, looks great and holds a knife securely - but measure carefully the knife you intend to use it on.

The 6.5 inch leather edge guard is well made, looks great and holds a knife securely. I use them on 5 inch to 6 inch prep and utility knives that are kept in a drawer. The strong magnets in the sides of the guard hold the knife blade firmly and prevent it from contacting and possibly cutting the leather of the guard. I expect the guard to be quite durable. It also takes up slightly less room than a wooden saya.

was buying a bread knife and this was suggested. Barely covers the blade, but well made and I like that it is assembled by real people and that hopefully some of my purchase goes to supporting their community.

I was really surprised at the excellent quality of this item.

I use it to protect my Zwilling Pro 10” Chef’s knife.

I will continue to purchase Messermeister magnetic leather edge-guards.
