Description

The Mac Black Ceramic Honing Rod features two grooved sides (on opposite sides of the rod) for more aggressive honing. Turn the rod 90° to use the grooved sides or smooth sides. Includes a rubberized end cap, flush with the diameter of the rod to reduce "catching" on the knife. Black ceramic material is a new type of ceramic that is much harder than traditional white ceramic which will quickly realign an edge and works well on harder Japanese steel knives which tend to have a higher Rockwell hardness.

    Didn't fit... but great product

    I purchased this along with a few knives and a new storage block. I really liked the dual surfaces for sharpening/honing and bought it based on the reviews. Unfortunately, my storage block has a 15mm hole, the MAC Honing Rod is slightly larger, and it wouldn't fit in the block. It was shipped quickly, arrived in good condition and I didn't use it, choosing to return it for a different ceramic honing rod that wasn't as large in diameter. But, it appeared to be of very good quality and I'm certain it would have worked well. I considered drilling out the block... but I didn't want to take the chance of messing it up. Live and learn. Thanks C&M for making the return and ordering the replacement extremely easy!

    Great Job

    The ceramic honing rod is exactly what I needed to keep the edge of my knives sharp between whet stone sharpening. I also like that it has a fine and coarse side. I would definitely recommend this product.
