Came extremely sharp out of the box. Finish and polish were perfect. SKD is pretty stainless, but still be careful about leaving your knife unclean or wet. Cut some green onions and left the knife for a few minutes, left a small stain on the Nashiji finish - nothing a little bar keeper's friend couldn't remove. This is a forever knife if maintained well. Very satisfied.
