    What I was hoping for

A beautiful knife. Heavier than I expected but the weight and balance feels good. It came sharp and I did a quick touch up with an 8000 grit stone and have maintained with a non leather strip since. SG2 is a perfect balance for me of easy to sharpen and holding an edge, and the oft cited fine grain is readily apparent.

There are 3 tiny incursions where the Damascus cladding reaches the edge, but if you look closely enough you can see that the actual SG2 cutting edge is not and cannot be touched. I read that this may be a point of pride rather than a defect and I am taking it that way.
