    Good stone

I normally don’t let my knives very dull and start with a 1000 grit stone. One of my SG2 knives was very dull. There were no chips or other types of damage. I started with this 400 grit stone and developed a burr fairly quickly. This stone is great for dull but not damaged knives.

Work every bit as well as their reputation

I decided to upgrade my crazy quilt collection of stones for a "matched" set that had a good reputation. I'm not disappointed. The 400 grit stones quickly removes material while providing good feedback, the 1000 and 3000 stone made it easy to sharpen a bunch of knives that needed attention, and the 5000 was enough to provide a near-mirror polish to a few knives where I want to see that.

It's nice having a strop to provide the finishes touches, too.

I definitely recommend this set for someone who wants to go all-in.

    I like this stone

I’m new to freehand sharpening. After much research, I got the 1,000 and 3,000 grit stones. I’ve only touched up a couple of knives that were still fairly sharp but had no problems.
